If you don’t know what buratta is, it is a soft goey ricotta type of cheese that is encased in a harder mozzarella type shell. It is mild in flavor and will take on the profile of whatever you eat it with. For this take, I have made it into a brunch style, with lox and capers and red onions and dill. I hope you give it a try!
.
Ingredients:
1 buratta ball
1 8oz package smoked salmon
1 small bottle capers
Olive oil
Dill
Red onion
Pita or wrap of some sort
Lemon
Salt
Pepper
.
Directions:
Preheat your oven to 350.
Cut your wrap/pita into triangles, place on a cookie sheet and brush with a little olive oil on both sides. Bake for 10-15 mins, flipping halfway through.
In a small frying pan, heat up about 1 Tbsp of olive oil. Add your capers, liquid drained, and cook for 3-4 minutes, until the capers are starting to turn golden brown. Remove onto a paper towel lined plate.
Slice your red onion and chop your dill.
To arrange:
Place your buratta in the middle of a plate. Place your smoked salmon around the buratta. Sprinkle with your red onions, capers and chopped dill. Crack a little salt and pepper. Zest your lemon over the top. Serve with lemon wedges and your pita crisps. Enjoy!
